New Mexico ECECD, in partnership with CNM Ingenuity, offers scholarships for eligible early childhood professionals pursuing qualifying credentials and degrees. Current programs can cover 100% of tuition for qualifying associate degree or Child Development Certificate programs, and bachelor's scholarships can cover 100% of tuition and 50% of books, subject to eligibility and program requirements.
Scholarship opportunities may support employees pursuing:
✓ New Mexico Child Development Certificate
✓ Early Childhood Education coursework
✓ Associate degrees
✓ Bachelor's degrees
✓ Other qualifying education pathways
The Sunnyside Academy encourages employees to further their education and will help employees identify available pathways and scholarship opportunities.
New Mexico has invested in programs designed to improve
compensation for qualified Early Childhood Educators.
Depending upon an educator's classroom assignment, education, credentials, experience, and applicable program requirements, qualified employees may have opportunities for additional compensation through NM ECECD pay parity and workforce compensation programs.
For example, ECECD's Infant/Toddler Pay Parity Program was specifically created to bring compensation for qualifying infant and toddler educators more closely in line with similarly credentialed public school teachers. New Mexico also supports pay parity for qualifying community based PreK educators.
NM ECECD Higher Education Scholarships & Career Pathways
NM ECECD Wage Supplement Program
Eligibility and compensation are determined by the applicable NM ECECD program. Participation and compensation amounts are not guaranteed by The Sunnyside Academy.
For many Sunnyside positions, previous childcare experience is preferred, but not required.
We are willing to train candidates who demonstrate the qualities that are much harder to teach: dependability, work ethic, patience, professionalism, initiative, and a willingness to learn.
Depending on position, professional development may include:
✓ CPR and First Aid
✓ Required NM ECECD training
✓ Health and safety training
✓ Classroom and curriculum training
✓ Early Childhood Education coursework
✓ Opportunities to earn additional credentials
We want employees who are willing to grow, and we want to help facilitate that growth.
The position you accept today does not necessarily have to be the position you hold forever.
As employees gain experience, further their education, earn credentials, demonstrate leadership, and develop professionally, opportunities may become available to take on additional responsibilities or advance into other positions within The Sunnyside Academy.
We want great employees to grow with us.
Our teachers aren't expected to walk into a classroom and figure everything out alone.
The Sunnyside Academy invests in curriculum, educational materials, professional resources, and staffing support to help our educators provide consistent, developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
Our goal is to allow teachers to spend more of their energy doing what they came here to do:
Teaching. Building relationships. Supporting development. And helping children grow.
There are jobs where it can be difficult to see the difference you made at the end of the day.
Early Childhood Education isn't one of them.
You may be the person who helps a child learn to communicate, master toilet learning, make their first friend, write their name, work through a big emotion, become more independent, or walk into kindergarten confident and prepared.
These are some of the most important developmental years of a child's life.
Experienced Early Childhood Educator?
Coming from a public school or another educational environment?
Considering a career change?
Returning to the workforce?
Looking for flexible substitute work?
Never worked in childcare but know you would be great with children?
For many positions, we are willing to train the right candidate.
We are looking for dependable people who want to learn, work hard, contribute to their team, grow professionally, and provide children with the high quality care and education they deserve.
