The Sunnyside Academy is now accepting applications for our tuition free New Mexico PreK program for eligible 3 and 4 year old children.
Our Early PreK and PreK classrooms provide intentional, developmentally appropriate learning designed to support independence, social emotional development, communication, early academics, and school readiness.
Applications are accepted throughout the school year. When classrooms are full, families may still apply to join our ongoing waitlist. If a space becomes available during the school year, families on the waitlist may be contacted to fill the opening.
Children can begin their PreK experience with us as early as age 3, allowing eligible children the opportunity to grow within our program for up to two years before transitioning to kindergarten.
For children who are 3 years old on or before September 1 of the applicable school year.
For eligible 3 and 4 year old children. Our mixed age classrooms allow children to learn and grow alongside peers while receiving developmentally appropriate experiences based on their individual needs and stage of development.

PreK is about much more than preparing children academically. Our classrooms support the development of the whole child through experiences designed to build:
Independence & Confidence
Learning to manage routines, make choices, solve problems, and take increasing responsibility.
Social Emotional Skills
Building relationships, communicating needs, managing emotions, cooperating with others, and learning as part of a classroom community.
Early Academic Skills
Developing early literacy, language, math, science, and critical thinking skills through developmentally appropriate experiences.
School Readiness
Building the routines, communication skills, independence, curiosity, and confidence children will carry with them into their next educational setting.
Consistent attendance is an important part of New Mexico PreK. Families enrolling in the program should be prepared to maintain regular attendance and participate in required program activities and documentation.
Children must maintain at least 85% attendance.
Families should also be prepared to provide required health and enrollment documentation and participate in program requirements such as family engagement activities and home visits.
Whether we currently have an available space or are maintaining a waitlist, families are encouraged to submit an application. Applications remain important throughout the school year because openings can occur as family circumstances and enrollment change.
